Items to remember:
1. No need to bring chairs, there will be 12 sets of 5 row bleachers on the near side.
2. Both the 7th grade division and the 8th grade division will be playing with live special teams and no coaches will be allowed on the field or in the huddle.
3. Each team needs to bring both jerseys (Home and Away)
4. To avoid "turf burn" please wear long sleeves
5. Each team will need to provide 3 volunteer chain gang members for at least one of your games.
6. Every team needs to bring both cleats and regular athletic shoes to the tournament. Cleats will be worn outside for pre-game warm-ups (unless you play the first game either day). Once inside the dome no plastic or metal "cleats" are allowed. Any type of basketball, tennis or rubber bottom shoe will work. Most shoe companies make an "indoor turf" shoe that has small rubber "nubs" on the bottom, those are acceptable. Here are some great examples of acceptable, affordable rubber bottom nub indoor turf shoes:

Shoe sample 2
Shoe sample 3

Basically if the shoe makes any noise when walking on concrete they can't be worn. You can go to www.EastBay.com and search "turf shoe". To be honest, if your kids have good basketball shoes they will work very well.

The 2010 Midwest Youth Football Championships (MYFC) will be held INDOORS starting on 10/30-10/31, followed 11/06-11/07 at the Wisconsin Dells Center (part of the Chula Vista Resort) in the Wisconsin Dells!

How would you like to have your team finish the season on an indoor NFL field right here in Wisconsin? The Chula Vista resort in the Wisconsin Dells has purchased the turf from the Indianapolis Colts and the RCA Dome and has moved it to their indoor dome facility, the Wisconsin Dells Center. This will be an official full 120 yard football field with goal posts, indoors and climate controlled to 65 degrees. No more worries about rain, snow, ice, cold, mud, etc!

This field has only been used 3 seasons (32 NFL games) and has hosted NFL stars like Brett Favre, Payton Manning, Ahman Green, Edgerin James, Marvin Harrison, Donald Driver, Rickey Williams, Jason Taylor, Chad Johnson, Ray Lewis, Eddie George, Javon Kearse, Steve McNair, Emmitt Smith, Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey, Mark Brunell, Jimmy Smith, and Jake Plummer just to name a few. It was also the playing surface for 2 NFL playoffs games.

Besides the great new indoor football field, the Chula Vista resort is also home to Wisconsin's largest indoor waterpark.

The MYFC remains the best, most exciting and well-run football tournament in the Midwest. While more than half the teams are from the Midwest area, the tournament is open to all teams from around the country, or around the world!

The MYFC is a sports vacation for the whole family featuring a two-day, two-game football tournament.

This year we are seeking top teams from around the Midwest. As always, spots will be open on a first come first served basis, to the entire country to teams who have a winning history and enthusiastic fans. All interested teams should obtain an 2010 Entry Form as soon as possible by clicking here. Although the 2 teams from the previous years MYFC Championship are given registration priority whenever possible, applications are taken on earliest postmark basis. All teams who wait to enter the MYFC later risk having no competition spaces left open for their football squads. Because of the tremendous early interest in the MYFC, all teams wishing to attend should request a Registration Form A.S.A.P. Just like last year, the Registration Fee is completely NON-REFUNDABLE to ensure only those planning to attend register and occupy a valuable competition space.

If there are spots open on October 1st we will be contacting local teams (Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota area) with no more than 1 loss to fill any remaining positions. All teams are selected to attend the MYFC based on the following factors:
  1. Solid, fair coaching (NO "bending" the rules, NO "stacking" teams, NO running up the score)
  2. Player conduct (NO swearing, NO trash talking, NO fighting, NO arguing with officials)
  3. Enthusiastic, ample parent support (we survive on fun, LOUD parents)
  4. Winning tradition or a winning season (in order to become the premier youth tournament we need the ability to match your team competitively against other attending teams. While the MYFC will contain league champions, it contains many teams who are not league champions, but have a history of being very competitive. Many teams decide to attend the MYFC at the start of the season based on their prior years performance.)

Our Goal
To provide kids, parents and other adult followers with a first-class season finale trip to be remembered for the rest of their lives.

Football Game Specifics and Officials

At the Midwest Youth Football Championships, all teams play two games, win or lose. All teams are scheduled to play on Saturday with a second game played on Sunday. Teams winning both games are declared Midwest Regional Champions. Teams who lose the Championship game are declared Midwest Divisional Champions. Winners of the Consolation (3rd place) Game are declared Festival Champions and teams who lose both games are declared Festival Runner-up. All teams are awarded a team trophy.

Every attempt is made to allow groups bringing multiple teams to play their games consecutively at the same field, especially during their first game.

All MYFC football games are officiated by state certified crews with extensive youth and high school football experience. All divisions play in accordance with American high school rules with a few variations implemented for the safety of the participants.

Tournament Specific Rules:

The MYFC uses the WIAA rules as a base and then adds these tweaks:

  1. The only weight restriction will be on runningbacks/quarterbacks/KR/PR which must be 160 lbs. or less (140 lbs. or less for 7th grade). Players over the running back weight limit can not take a hand off of any sort, but they can accept forward passes. Forward passes can be behind the line of scrimmage. Players over the weight limit can not accept a pitch, hand off or lateral. Kick and punt returners must be under the 160 lb. (140 lb.) weight as well. Tight Ends, Wide Receivers, Linemen, or any defensive position can be any weight. If a QB is over the weight limit he can still pass the ball but may not run the ball. Kickers/Punters can be any weight but if they are over 160 lbs. they can not carry the ball. Punters, regardless of weight, CAN throw the ball. If a ball carrier is over the 160 lb weight limit and carries the ball across the line of scrimmage (bad snap, fake, flushed from the pocket, etc) it will be a penalty. The Penalty for violation of this rule is a dead ball foul with loss of down but no loss of yardage.

    SCORING:
  2. Two points for kicked extra point, one point for run or passed extra point.
  3. A team may have the option of kicking or receiving after any score or at the half, if they are 17 or more points behind.

Balancing to get Competitive Match-ups
This 2-game, bowl-style football event has thrived due to the clean, competitive football games played by honest football programs wishing to come to end their season like so many college teams do!

The MYFC Competition Committee does it's best to ensure quality game match-ups by using age & weight information, as well as other vital team / league information. With the information obtained from the MYFC registration form, competitive football match-ups are the rule, not the exception (as is the case at most smaller tournaments)! This is the main reason why the MYFC has grown to its present status as the Midwest's finest, most admired post-season youth football competition.

Roster Requirements:
All teams must submit both an MYFC team roster and a copy of a certified league roster by September 30th. MYFC does not require that all of the players on your league roster make the trip to the MYFC. Several may not be able to attend due to family commitments, injuries, etc. The MYFC roster should give an accurate list of all players currently playing for your team and must have a minimum of 15 players with no maximum limit. You are allowed to add three players to this roster with MYFC approval, if you are short of players. These players must come from other youth teams in your area and may not be former players of any organized school football program. The addition of more than three players is allowed at the MYFC only under very rare circumstances.

The MYFC Team Package:
Football teams who travel to a post-season competition are often disappointed, making the trip memorable for all the wrong reasons! The MYFC is an exciting football weekend that is designed to ensure the entire event goes smoothly. Every team is guaranteed the following:

  • MYFC Football team trophies (every team, regardless of finish)

  • Every player from EVERY team will receive a custom medal cast in the official MYFC logo.

  • Unlimited admission into all MYFC games

  • Discounted Hotel Plans Available: All teams are required to book at least 20 room nights (10 rooms for 2 nights, or 20 rooms for one night, or 5 rooms one night and 15 rooms the second night, etc) at the Chula Vista Resort or they will not be allowed to participate.

Fee Payments & Deadlines:
All teams are required to book at least 20 room nights (10 rooms for 2 nights, or 20 rooms for one night, or 5 rooms one night and 15 rooms the second night, etc) at the Chula Vista Resort or they will not be allowed to participate. The Team Registration Fee for the MYFC is $450 per football team then a Registration Fee of $6 per player (minimum of 20 players, no maximum). The MYFC registration deadline is October 1st . However, those teams registering after August 30th should call or email to ensure a competition slot remains open. All interested teams should obtain an 2010 Entry Form as soon as possible by clicking here. This will open the Registration forms in PDF format. Please fill out the registration form completely, include the football registration fee made payable to:

Midwest Youth Football Championships (or MYFC)
